We took a break from Atlanta for a couple of weeks, what with the snow and tornadoes, to warm and sunny Florida. While there we got to work with some of our favorite people Courtney Rivera and Ms. Brayzil. Both agreed to roll with my inspiration of a lion (could be I’ve been watching too much Animal Planet). The shots came out so much better than we imagined and it was so much fun to shoot. Thanks to both of you for a great evening!

Elevate the Quest

One of the things I love about photography as an art is the ability to capture people, other artists especially, in the midst of doing what they love and have a passion for doing. Music is one of my favorite creative arts in that it has the ability to transport the artist and the listener to another time and space and communicate past boundaries such as language, age, race, and sexuality. Such was my recent pleasure with Eric Thomas a jazz musician here in the ATL. At a recent event, a fusion of art, culture, music, and fashion, we met Eric and were lucky to shoot with him the following day. I had the profound priviledge of hearing him play at our studio while we caught him in action. His music is relaxing, energizing, raw, and refined at the same time. You can find him at Noir in the Castleberry Hill section of Atlanta on Friday nights and other various spots around town. Be sure to check him out, you don’t want to miss him.

Poet’s Corner

We had the unique and distinct pleasure to assist our good friend and fellow photog LaShay on her shoot with a very talented wordsmith Jah Ques. The shoot was fun and full of flavor and raw energy. It’s easy to get stuck in a rut when doing a photoshoot in a familiar place, but we were inspired to find new and creative backgrounds to frame up this exciting talent. From the railroad tracks to the front steps, we had a blast with you both and can’t wait to see the final pics.

Now Introducing…
Posted in Portraits on March 1, 2008 by Funky Urban Chick PhotographyHere are some photos of an up and coming actor here in the ATL. This former teacher is now schooling us about the late, great Malcolm X. You definitely don’t want to miss this talent. Go see him perform El Hajj Malik: The Life and Times of Malcolm X at the Southwest Arts Center. It was great meeting you Josh! I can’t wait to see more and more of your performances.
